Breakages & Delivery

At Eggcellent Choice, we take great care to ensure your eggs arrive fresh, secure and intact. Our eggs are packed carefully and delivered directly to our members using our electric delivery vehicles.

Eggs are naturally fragile, however, and occasionally a breakage can happen during delivery.

Proof of Delivery

When completing a delivery, our driver will place your eggs in your nominated safe place and take a photograph showing the eggs at the delivery location.

This photograph acts as our proof of delivery and helps us confirm that your order was delivered to the correct location and the condition of the egg box at the time of delivery.

If an egg arrives broken

If any of your eggs are broken when delivered, please let us know within 24 hours of delivery.

Please send us a clear photograph showing:

  • the affected egg(s); and
  • the egg box as it was received.

We may compare this with the delivery photograph taken by our driver.

An egg is considered broken where the shell and inner membrane have been compromised.

Minor or superficial shell cracks where the inner membrane remains intact may not be treated as a breakage. If you are unsure about the condition of an egg, please contact us rather than consuming it.

Replacement or Credit

Where a qualifying breakage has occurred, we will ensure you are not left paying for an unusable egg.

Depending on availability and your delivery schedule, we may either:

  • add replacement egg(s) to your next weekly delivery; or
  • apply an appropriate credit or refund for the affected egg(s).

The method of compensation will normally be determined by Eggcellent Choice based on the circumstances and availability.

Checking Your Delivery

We recommend checking your eggs as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

Any breakages should be reported within 24 hours so that we can investigate and resolve the issue promptly.

We cannot accept responsibility for eggs that subsequently spoil or contaminate other eggs because a breakage was left unreported or the eggs were not appropriately stored after delivery.

Safe-Place Deliveries

As Eggcellent Choice deliveries may take place early in the morning, customers are asked to nominate a suitable, accessible and reasonably protected safe place for their weekly delivery.

Our driver will leave the eggs in the nominated location and take a photograph confirming delivery.

Once the eggs have been delivered to the nominated safe place, responsibility for collecting and appropriately storing the eggs passes to the customer, except where the eggs were already damaged when delivered or where applicable consumer law provides otherwise.

Eggcellent Choice cannot accept responsibility for loss, theft, damage, contamination or deterioration occurring after delivery where this results from circumstances outside our reasonable control.

For best quality, eggs should be collected promptly after delivery and stored appropriately.
