Oakstream Pastures
Ammar and family · Burnley, Lancashire
Fresh ground to explore
Mobile coops move every 3–4 days during the growing season, giving the hens fresh pasture and the land time to rest.
Time to be hens
Pasture gives the hens opportunities to scratch, explore and forage for plants and insects.
Carefully chosen feed
Foraging is supplemented with organic feed containing no soy, GMOs or artificial yolk colourants.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE FARM
A family purpose.
A future for the land.
Ammar and his family run Oakstream Pastures in Burnley, Lancashire. Their farm grew from a wish to put the family’s land to good use and honour their father’s service to the community.
Today, their approach brings food production together with caring for the soil and ecosystem.
What that means on the farm
A mobile home, not a fixed patch
During the growing season, the coop moves with the flock onto fresh ground. Rotating the hens also gives previously grazed areas time to recover.
Foraging, with supplementary feed
Plants and insects are part of the hens’ foraging. Organic supplementary feed provides additional nutrition, without soy, GMOs or artificial yolk colourants.
